The ceremony of your own life

Whether we are aware of it yet or not, we are already part of ceremony and ritual. How we experience that is of our own making. This ceremony is our own life, as directly, authentically experienced through our body, our breath, our senses and our relation to the world within and without. This particular ceremony is opened with the first breath and is closed with the last.

Unless we find the way to prioritise ourselves back into our lives, unless we actively create our own experience, then we will be, at best, merely part of someone else's dream while realising we watered down our own dreams one rationalisation at a time.

If we are not conscious of this, we will always have that nagging feeling that there is something we are missing, something more, something "other".

Return to Innocence

There is a rare period of time in early childhood, before the neurotic obsession with the avatar of "me" (and the inevitable comparison with others) sets in, that we find happiness through that authenticating vehicle, our body. We educate ourselves and validate our experiences directly in the moment through the simple, felt presence of direct experience.

How do we as adults rediscover the miraculous here and now in our everyday lives? We start with the breath, we continue with the body, with the energy of physical and non-physical touch. We learn and practice simple, natural rituals. We go inside as we go outside. We gather tools and practices from traditions around the world made accessible and relevant for modern, Western culture. We learn about practical connections between the body and the mind and how they relate to health and behaviour. We become more aware of why we feel like we feel and do what we do.

But instead of becoming fixated on problems, we use simple practices and rituals to empower ourselves in the here and now of our own life. We experience the extraordinary hidden within seemingly ordinary things. We discover everyday miracles.

Many ways that lead you
home to yourself

Maria Khakhalkina

Maria has worked in body therapy for 18 years, with a special focus on the relationship between structural and emotional imbalances that disrupt the body’s natural functions. She integrates a range of techniques, from kinesiological muscle testing to intensive myofascial treatment methods, to release blockages on both emotional and physical levels.

During the last decade together Maria and Jeremy have undergone an intensive apprenticeship in Shamanic plant medicines and gone on to conduct their own retreats and ceremonies around the world for the past seven years, holding space for hundreds of people doing intensive self work. Their new goal is to make some of these tools accessible and applicable for everyone in the context of everyday life. In addition to their existing skill sets as therapists and teachers, they are uniquely positioned to share these tools through a wide range of offerings from one-off events, personal consultations, group education, ceremonies and live-in retreats.
